Boston Scientific's Urology/Gynecology Products Featured In Studies At International Urogynecological Association Annual Meeting
Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE: BSX) announced that results from nine studies involving the Company"s Urology/Gynecology products will be presented at the 34th Annual Meeting of the International Urogynecological Association (IUGA). Presentations will feature Boston Scientific"s pelvic floor reconstruction systems and mid-urethral sling systems used to treat pelvic floor prolapse and stress urinary incontinence (SUI). The Company will also sponsor a symposium highlighting long-term registry data comparing the benefits of experienced-based versus evidence-based outcomes for patients treated with mid-urethral slings. The IUGA Congress will be held June 16-20 at the Villa Erba Conference Center in Como, Italy.

Increased 'Dialogue' Needed In Black Community About HIV/AIDS, Opinion Piece Says
"HIV/AIDS has literally become a state of emergency in the [b]lack community and our leaders, organizations and institutions can no longer afford to remain silent," Lisa Fager Bediako, project coordinator for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation"s ACT! Against AIDS Leadership Initiative, writes in the Florida Courier. She continues, "Over the past three years that I have been involved in HIV/AIDS prevention and advocacy, one thing has become apparent: the crucial need for expanded dialogue about HIV/AIDS within the [b]lack community." Bediako writes, "In order to reach a larger audience, we need to have hard conversations, creative outreach and committed support from leadership organizations and media outlets," concluding, "We cannot afford to ebb and flow our conversations of HIV/AIDS while this preventable disease continues to devastate our community" (Bediako, 7/10).

ThermoPrime Taq DNA Polymerase and Thermo-Start® Taq DNA Polymerase are designed to provide excellent amplification specificity and improved product yield. ThermoPrime Taq DNA Polymerase exhibits enhanced thermal stability at DNA denaturation temperatures, ensuring optimal enzyme activity throughout the thermal cycling process and maximum product yield. Suitable for the amplification of templates up to 4kb in length, this high performance enzyme is ideal for both standard and long PCR applications. Thermo-Start DNA Polymerase is a chemically modified version of ThermoPrime Taq DNA Polymerase, developed to ensure high specificity in hot-start PCR applications.
